Central Texas Komen Race for the Cure
Entanglement with Planned Parenthood Waco
Media Matters is wrong! Planned Parenthood of Central Texas has not performed a single mammogram in Waco. PPCT is no more than a funding channel for the Central Texas Komen Race for the Cure. For several years, unfortunately and unnecessarily, Komen grants have gone to Planned Parenthood in Waco. Click here and see the 2010 PPCT newsletter which clearly states that PPCT is no more than a conduit for Komen money. Actual mammography and any needed follow-up are performed at Hillcrest and Providence hospital facilities here in Waco. Planned Parenthood in Waco has, however, committed over 16,000 abortions at it Columbus Avenue facility. This organization has also richly deserved the name of Planned Promiscuity of Waco by offering its Nobody’s Fool youth sex conference each summer in Waco for over 20 years. If you have an question about this recent deception by Planned Parenthood and its allies in the mainstream media, contact John Pisciotta at 254-644-0407 or prolifewaco@gmail.com
Refutation of Media Matters (and Cecile Richards) claim that Planned Parenthood perform mammography.

Each March or April, Susan Komen Central Texas Race for the Cure is held in downtown Waco.
Pro-Life Waco continues to educate the public about the unfortunate and unnecessary alliance between the Komen Foundation and Planned Parenthood Waco. There are two big issues. First, the Komen Foundation refuses to acknowledge the evidence that abortion is a risk factor of breast cancer. Clearly, women deserve to know all about risk factors for breast cancer. Second, approximately 20% of the Komen affiliates nationally make grants to the nation’s abortion leader--Planned Parenthood. The grants amount to over a half million dollars annually. The Waco grant has been $45,000 for several years.
The Planned Parenthood grant in Waco is for mammography and follow-up care. Planned Parenthood in Waco does not actually deliver these services. Rather, Planned Parenthood just funnels to Komen money to real health care facilities that serve women.
This financial slight-of-hand polishes the image of Planned Parenthood while tarnishing the image of Komen. Why would a foundation dedicated to helping women survive breast cancer partner with the nation's leader in the abortion industry?
Clearly, women deserve to know all about risk factors for breast cancer.
Pro-Life Waco took its challenge to a new level in 2008 by displaying the special billboard in downtown Waco. You can see the billboard at the top of this page.
After the billboard had been on display for several days, the Waco Tribune Herald printed an editorial critical of the billboard on Easter morning.
The editorial worked to our great advantage. The Waco Trib printed a picture of the billboard so that thousands more Central Texans could see it. The editorial also triggered over two dozen pro and con letters on the billboard and the Komen/Planned Parenthood entanglement controversy. Of course, letters from our side were far superior.
