WELCOME!

 Public Square Outreach R US
Public Square Outreach is engaging our neighbors BROADLY and CONTINUOUSLY. The focus is on the vast majority of our neighbors who are neither strongly pro-life nor strongly pro-abortion. These are the neighbors who are most amenable to a change of  heart and soul and voting. Politics is not the direct goal of Public Square Outreach. However, conversions of heart bring change in moral behavior and voting at election time.
PLW’s director John Pisciotta’s interview with Lila Rose, Founder and CEO of Live Action News, was part of the Exclusives podcast series. 40 minutes. The interview focuses on Pro-Life Waco’s priority--Public Square Outreach.  (9-7-2023)
- Years in Review
For a detailed view of Pro-Life Waco outreach, check out our Years in Review for 2023 and each year back to 2007.
- Each Day
-- At least 8 pro-life billboards are on display throughout Central Texas.
-- Hundreds of yard signs (also called "mini billboards") will be seen at homes and churches throughout Central Texas.
-- Each day, “Carolyn” the pro-life billboard truck is parked in prominent public view. On week days, this is mainly near the facility of Planned Parenthood Waco. On weekends at highly visible churches and other locations in the public square. For three years in January, we had Carolyn displayed for all to see on the march route of the Texas Rally for Life in Austin.
- Each Month
A hallmark of Pro-Life Waco is monthly slate of events--rather than yearly. Yearly and ad hoc outreach does not provide a foundation for a strong pro-life organization.
--
Pharmacy Outreach (Protest). Signs. flyers. and conversation at both CVS and Walgreens one Friday each month. Intersection of HWY 84 and Estates Dr.
4-5:30 PM (5 to 6:30 with DST). Corporate leaders of CVS and Walgreens have decided to fill prescriptions for chemical abortion pills. (mifepristone/misoprostol, RU-486)
-- First Sunday
Life Chain at intersection of Valley Mills Drive & New Road. 2 to 3 PM. Look for billboard truck.
--
Pedestrian Overpass Outreach above the intersection of S. Valley Mills Drive and  Bagby Ave. One Thursday each month. 4-5:30 PM (5 to 6:30 with DST)
-- It's A Baby Waco at Planned Parenthood Waco frontage road. 8-10 AM. We break for breakfast tacos at 9 AM.

-- Pedestrian Overpass Outreach at overpass
above South Valley Mills Drive at intersection with Bagby Ave. One Thursday afternoon each month.
- Each Year
-- Pro-life canopy and booths at local festivals and fairs. Fee flyers, books, jewelry, and baby models. We Are Chosen Waco is the first Saturday in March, organized by a dozen local churches. We are present at several church festivals held in the spring and fall. The children love the soft-to-the-touch models of babies in the womb.
- Ad Hoc Outreach Events
With a well-established foundation of monthly outreach events, Pro-Life Waco can spring into action when challenges and opportunities arise.
-- In 2023. Planned Parenthood Waco announced a despicable sex ed  seminar for May 15. PLW jumped into action and organized a protest to greet the event. Planned Parenthood got wind of our plans and aborted the seminar before its first breath.
-- In 2022. In July, a Waco City Council member proposed an ordinance to block the Waco PD from enforcing Texas abortion laws. Here. For the August Council meeting, Pro-Life Waco organized and promoted a pro-life turnout to voice opposition. Around 400 pro-life citizens turned out with great enthusiasm. 45 delivered 3-minute speeches. Nothing further has been heard of this proposal.
- National and International Outreach
--Pre-Life in the Public Square group on Facebook.  Over 16,000 members worldwide. Established July 2014.The purpose of the group is to model and promote Public Square Outreach in cities nationwide and worldwide.
--Pro-Life Politics group on Facebook. Close to 15,000 members worldwide. Established in April of 2016. All politics, all levels, all countries.

Victories! Public Square Outreach
The range of activities of Public Square Outreach varies greatly. There is the soft and gentle like a booth at a county fair. And there is the contentious, such as PLW’s current priority of Pharmacy Outreach. Is it realistic to believe our outreach or protest can compel an abortion-supporting organization to flip 180 degrees? Yes, it is!  We are more powerful than we think!
--2023. Planned Parenthood sex seminar canceled.  They folded in the face of a looming Pro-Life Waco protest. See above in the Ad Hoc Events section.
--2022. 400 life-defenders swamp Waco City Council to crush proposed pro-abortion city ordinance. In July, a Waco City Council member proposed an ordinance to block the Waco PD from enforcing Texas abortion laws. Here. For the August Council meeting, Pro-Life Waco organized an overwhelming turnout to voice opposition. Around 400 pro-life citizens turned out. 45 delivered 3-minute speeches. Nothing further was heard of the proposal.
-- 2018 Wacoan Magazine terminates PP Waco advertising. In December of 2017, the magazine carried a full-page ad promoting the newly opened abortion facility in Waco. We complained to management and were brushed off. We then protested in front of the business along Valley Mills Drive. You can think of this street as Waco's "Main Street". Magazine management contacted PLW through an intermediary and agreed to never again run an ad from Planned Parenthood Waco.
--2015. Target promotes Fifty Shades of Grey movie until . . . Target stores nationwide displayed a special line of deplorable promotional items for the movie released in January. I assume you know about the movie. Pro-Life Waco was the single organization in America to respond to Target with action in the public square. John Pisciotta personally called on Waco Target managers. Within two days, the display vanished. PLW organized an outreach to Georgetown Target, in collaboration with friends from Round Rock. The result of this engagement with signs and discussions, was the displays were removed from the Georgetown store and four other Target stores in the same region.
--2011. Central National Bank splits from Nobody's Fool. As with Girl Scouts CNB allowed its name on the Nobody's Fool promotional flyer. To persuade CNB to back away from Nobody's Fool, our campaign included face-to-face discussions, letter writing, and four monthly  sidewalk protests. In a luncheon meeting with one of our supporters, CNB executives agreed that their name would no longer appear on Nobody's Fool flyers.

-- 2004. Girl Scout Cookie Boycott in Central Texas. This startling outreach was local but resulted in a national impact. The local Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council proudly had its logo on flyers promoting the Planned Parenthood Nobody’s Fool sex ed conference. Then in 2003, Planned Parenthood began using the pornographic children’s book, It's Perfectly Normal. This triggered PLW's demand for a “divorce” of Girl Scouts from Planned Parenthood. We placed a radio ad about the problem on the local AFR radio station. A torrent of local controversy erupted, and national coverage spread quickly following an AP news story.  With just three weeks of controversy, on February 23, the Bluebonnet Council board voted to sever all ties with Planned Parenthood. This was the headline story in the Waco Tribune-Herald and was one of the "Trib's" Top 10 local news stories for 2004
-- 1989 to 2013. Planned Parenthood Nobody's Fool folds at last. PP Waco was proud of its long-running sex seminar held at the Waco Convention Center. Nobody's Fool targeting children in grades 5-9 each July. At its high point, the event lured 700 children. Pro-Life Waco challenged the Nobody's Fool through the decades with yard signs, billboards, a billboard truck, and with dozens of foot soldiers at the Convention Center on the event day. Our public square engagement made the Planned Parenthood grooming event radioactive. Attendance declined to less than a hundred. In June of 2013, the Waco newspaper announced Nobody’s Fool had been terminated.
