2004 Girl Scout Cookie Boycott in Waco
National Investigation of Girl Scout Entanglement with Planned Parenthood
On March 5, 2004, Girl Scout CEO Kathy Clonginger, declared on the NBC Today Show that Girl Scout councils will continue to partner with Planned Parenthood across the nation. The Waco Girl Scout divorce from Planned Parenthood in response to the cookie boycott was only one local decision according Cloninger. STOPP International, led by Jim Sedlak, responded by investigating all 315 Girl Scout councils. STOPP is a division of American Life League. The following results of the investigation were released on April 12, 2004: 17 councils did have a relationship with Planned Parenthood 49 councils had no working relationship with Planned Parenthood. 249 councils refused to answer questions about their relationship with Planned Parenthood! In Texas, one other council did partner with Planned Parenthood, 5 councils had no relationship and 13 councils "took the 5th amendment" when asked.
